Kirill N. BABICHENKO
Bachelor's degree & PhD in Law - Sakharov Fellow of Human Rights Program at Harvard University, Cambridge, USA
In last 15 years have prepared, organized and run more than 100 trainings, seminars and youth exchanges – altogether in 52 countries. It included summer and winter schools, career enhancement for lawyers and law teachers, educational therapy for young criminal offenders and migrants. I have worked, among others, with UNHCR, UNITED for Intercultural Action, Global Alliance for Justice Education, Council of Europe, Asian-European Foundation. From 2013 I deal with European Commission Erasmus+ projects on KA1 and KA2 levels.
My academic background (PhD, an assistant professor of law) is based on intensive educational experience at Harvard University and Russian State Humanitarian University. I combine my legal practice, scientific research and human rights activism to bring around the best possible solutions in the field of formal, informal and non-formal education.
In my open-end educational sessions I widely use the most controversial and thought provoking examples and dilemmas from antique and modern philosophy, and real life situations. Music, photos and creative paintings are of great importance in my work. Tactical games based on recent events is one of my key approaches in helping audience to understand, analyse and overcome problems.
Apart from a set of innovative techniques my methodology includes advanced distant preparation, cognitive windows, Teatro do Oprimido, arts and drama exercises – all based on holistic involvement of the trainees and post-event support. My ideal in education is to empower the audience to address existential issues in their own lives with the force of free mind, reflection and wisdom; and provide them with opportunities to be inspired by the joys, wonders and mysteries of the creative work and human achievement.
